Gifting Mishaps with Happy Endings

We’ve all experienced the gift that doesn’t quite land the way we’d hoped. Take, for example, a customer who gifted a squirrel statue to her mother-in-law, thinking it would make the perfect garden companion. It turns out the mother-in-law had an infamous (and previously unknown) dislike for squirrels, deeming them "menacing garden invaders." But—happy ending—when the statue was tucked behind a plant, its “eyes peeking through the foliage” actually gave her a laugh, and it became a bit of a good-luck charm to ward off the real ones.

Or the husband who thought a Western wagon lamp would be the perfect addition to his wife’s reading nook. She was...less than thrilled. But, as the story goes, he found her reading next to it every evening, quietly proud of the “adventure aesthetic” it added. Eventually, she grew so fond of the lamp that she’d start telling guests, “Yes, that’s our wagon lamp. It’s a conversation piece.” Mission accomplished.
